The Bradford Bubble Up is a series of water-themed events across Bradford city centre on the 7th, 8th and 9th of September.
Events will be arts-focused, family-friendly and participatory. The activities will use many of Bradford’s assets including its empty shops, local DIY creative talent, and all of the city’s National Portfolio Organisations.
More than £160,000 has been raised for the weekend’s events, and for other activities to support creative use of empty space throughout summer and autumn 2018. Bradford Council, the West Yorkshire Combined Authority and Arts Council England are our key funders alongside local organisations such as Friends of Bradford Beck, Impressions Gallery and the National Science and Media Museum. Many other partners are supporting with generous in-kind support – a huge thank you to everyone involved.
The Bradford Bubble Up will be an exciting event for everyone in the city to enjoy, as well as inviting visitors from outside Bradford to come and see what we’ve got to offer.
But it’s far more than just one weekend of fun.
This is an unprecedented partnership between all of Bradford’s long-term funded National Portfolio arts organisations, as well as local and regional bodies such as the West Yorkshire Combined Authority, National Science and Media Museum, Friends of Bradford Beck, Bradford Council, The Underground, and then national organisations such as the Arts Council and Artichoke.
By working together in this way within Bradford, and with organisations from outside Bradford, we hope to achieve far more for the city than we ever can by working individually.
This kind of joined-up working mirrors the way the new Business Improvement District would work, by combining the efforts of businesses in the city centre to transform it through collaborative working.
The Bradford Bubble Up will inspire Bradfordians and non-Bradfordians to see the city differently, highlighting the talent and potential of our people and spaces and heralding a new creative period of regeneration.
